However I have about 70 distance to go through a shotgun style building with width of 20 for 20 feet and 24 the rest of the way. My floor beams are 2.25 x 13, 16 on center through the 20 wide section, and 2.25 x 13, 12 on center through the 24 section. This is a historic building so hopefully the red oak beams are still in good shape. Any good estimates on weight or moving suggestions Double door safe size is roughly 73 Tall, 42 wide, 30.5 deep The other safe is roughly 70.2 Tall, 39.25 wide, 37 deep Any help would be much appreciated. I know it adds additional weight, but it eliminates the point load of the steel wheels, both at the joists and on the floor in between. Id also try to keep my path against the wall near the foundation, or straddle a main beam on the floor below. ![]() Putting these on top of the 2 x 4 or (Id probably use something wider than 2 x 4s but... Past that, strips of 14 steel would be my next choice- it all depends on the condition of the floor. Plalet jack is not a bad idea if you have access to one as they have better wheels. Someone moved a piano out of my 1901 house about 45 years ago, and the wheel marks are still visible. Without inspecting the floor, Im thinking two pieces of 34 plywood and move the back one to the front as you move. Id put 14 x 3 or 4 flat steel down for tracks for the wheels. Cut the flat on an angle long ways so the wheel doesnt see a crack. I put down the platforms from a painters scaffold to roll across. The platformsplanks are steel c-sections, open on both ends, and about 5 long. Either might be an easy borrow from a painter buddy without buying stuff for one event. Get 4 sections for easy hop-scotch). Thankfully when they sold the house the grand piano was included in the sale. My protestations that I would be out of the country whenever they needed to move the piano again may have had something to do with it being included in the sale. Open An Antique Mosler Safe For Free I JustBuddy of mine gave it to me for free I just had to move it from his house. We used a rollback like you would move a car with and it worked really well. The pallet jack allows one to place down and add next part of plywood on floor then move the jack just enough to get wheels past edge of next ply sheet Makes for no transision stops. Have seen a few safe folks and that is how they move them, Simple and safe Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk.
